What My Kids Are Reading
Me after finishing singing Pete the Cat’s version of The Wheels on the Bus that seemed to go on forever: SO – what did you think?
4 yo daughter: *looks at me with the side eye only a 4 yo can pull off* why are you asking me?
2 yo son: Pete! Wheels on bus! *arms flail in his attempt to do the wheels on the bus motion*
Me after getting hit in the eye: I wanted to know if you liked it or not.
Dubious daughter: Yes.
Silly son: wipas – swoosh (I think he meant wipers go swish swish swish)
Me: Yes, what?
Polite daughter: Yes, please.
Me laughing: No! I meant what did you like about it?
In-the-swing-of-things daughter: Oh! I really really liked the part where Pete gets up on top of the bus and starts rocking out! I wish I could do that!
Me: ……
Reviewing daughter: I think he likes it too since he danced for most of it. But some of the things aren’t in the real song. Like Pete rocking out. I think we should add that to the song.
Me: Ok let’s get into bed everyone!
Still going daughter: Everyone should be able to rock out! Where’s my guitar…
TIME TO PUBLISH THIS POST!
My daughter came running into the room, right as I was set to publish, crying because we forgot to include orange cat. Rather than having her do set design for another hour, orange cat gets a special picture, all of her own. This is her rocking out.
Keep on reading!
