What My Son is Reading – Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck
Happy Monday everyone!
In my bookish house, there is one TV show that everyone loves – Sesame Street! My daughter loves to pretend that she is over it, but her love for The Count and Herry Monster was strong. Then we went through a Zoe phase, where our puppy was named to express her love of all things orange monster, and now she has settled on her love of Abby Cadabby.
Meanwhile, my son likes Elmo, but is in LOVE with Cookie Monster. Whenever Cookie Monster and Gonger begin to sing “Do you like food?” my son goes running to them. It’s a much stronger pull than the ice cream truck that frequents our neighborhood.
During Christmas, “Santa” brought this book for my son.
Instant love. We have read this book a thousand times a day up until a week ago when the book went missing. I had to question my husband to make sure that he didn’t throw it away in a “I just can’t read it anymore!” exasperation. I shone a light in his eyes. Lie detector tests were administered (which was just my daughter staring at him asking over and over again if he threw it away).
As I was cleaning up the playroom this weekend look at what I found:
Hmmmm…placed right on top of a drawer filled with toy computers, microphones and cell phones? One that my kids frequent almost daily? I smell a rat. A small, but constantly growing, 5 year old rat.
While I have my suspicions, she will deny it until the day she decides to be truthful. Which is not today.
But I have a very happy boy again. And while I would love to go into the details of how much this is helping my son learn what is healthy to eat, and that pancakes are delicious, I have to go read to my son…again…
“Do you like food? Ba-doobie-doobie-doobie-doo-doo”
“Place your order if you’re lucky! We make food in the foodie trucky – YEAHHHHH!”
5 out of 5 bookstacks from my son – was there ever any doubt he would give that rating?
