Happy Singles Day Book Review From This Old Married Lady

Happy Singles Day everyone! What is it? It is the day that singles everywhere rejoice on Singles Awareness Day (aka – the day after Valentine’s Day). But that spells SAD, and that’s not fun. So why not take a week-long trip to celebrate Singles Day?

I received a free digital copy from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

In this story, we meet Paige, who decides to take such a trip, only to find out the bed and breakfast she booked is off-season and not quite how it was marketed. And just like her dwellings, the owner of the B&B (Lucas) is not quite how he was initially marketed. Cue the Hallmark movie-esque story! Only this has a bit more spice than a Hallmark movie allows.

Paige is a boss bitch who takes care of business herself (which I always enjoy seeing). Lucas is a widower trying to find his way with a daughter who can melt your heart. He lives on a small island I like to call Hallmark island, where everyone knows everyone and there’s only one way on and one way off. Can you tell where this story is going? Need I say more?

I really enjoyed this story! Watching how Paige and Lucas first met, and how the relationship changed was fun to watch. The supporting cast of characters was also interesting to read about, although they do not figure prominently enough – give me more!. By the end, I was not disappointed!

I think of fans of rom-coms will really enjoy this one. And even better, it is being released tomorrow! PSSST – see my picture above? I took it in my local bookstore this past weekend, so it may be out now!
